Beauty Facial Treatments Certificate

Angels On Board Academy Beauty Facial training course is accredited by the Guild of Beauty Therapists, the UK’s leading professional beauty trade body.

Course content

This one day course covers the consultation, contra-indications, technique and aftercare needed to perform a beauty facial treatment and is written following the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for beauty, nails and holistic therapy treatments.

There are three elements to the training:

• The Beauty Guild’s pre-requisite online Professional Standards Course (unless you are already registered with them)

• An online series of modules for Beauty Facials

• A practical training day

The Professional Standards Course covers relevant legislation, health and safety information needed to be a professional therapist. (This is the not-so-exciting part!)

The online course can be completed in your own time - it’s best if you do this before the practical training. Depending on your learning speed, it may take up to 16 hrs, but can be done in a lot less. You will learn about the anatomy and physiology of the face and neck; different skin conditions and how to treat them; what equipment you will need; and what aftercare advice to offer.

In the practical training, you will learn how to perform basic skin analysis, cleanse, exfoliate, tone, use of face masks, moisturise, and how do a face, head, neck and shoulder massage. (This is the exciting part!)

The practical module and examination will be conducted by the tutor on the above course date. On completion of the course, successful students will receive GTi certificates in Beauty Facials.

The course is not limited to any beauty product brand, allowing you to choose what products you use in your treatments. We will also give you expert tips for delivering beauty facial treatments on board yachts, if that is where you may be working.

Who is the course for?

Stewardesses, deckhands, massage therapists, hairdressers, villa or hotel staff… the list goes on. Being able to do beauty facials is a great skill if you’re looking to join the superyacht industry; if you’re working in tourist locations; if you want to work in a spa or salon, or if you’re looking to be self-employed and work from home doing hours that suit you. No previous beauty or massage experience is required. The group size is small – maximum 8 students.

About the Tutor

Shereen Soliman worked for 7 years in a busy UK Day Spa offering a range of nail and beauty treatments, whilst putting herself through university. She is passionate about wellbeing, and is the author of The Backpacker’s Natural Beauty Book, and offers workshops on how to make natural beauty products that are kind to your skin and the environment. She has worked in and around the yachting industry since 2014. Shereen’s nail expertise combined with her positive, empowering energy will have you inspired and fired up ready to deliver your own professional treatments in no time.

Investment

The course costs 195€ for the online modules and two practical days (early bird price is 175€ for bookings before 30th September 2018), plus £49+VAT payable directly to the Beauty Guild for their pre-requisite online Professional Standards Course (unless you are already registered with them). The course fee includes an excellent course manual (hard copy) for you to keep.

FAQs

Do I need any other beauty or massage training?

No other qualifications are needed to attend the course. All we ask is that you have a good level of English as the course will be delivered entirely in English.

Do I need any equipment?

All equipment will be provided, and during the course we will recommend where you can purchase your own kit so you can start practising asap.

Will I get a certificate?

After successfully completing the course, you will get a high resolution PDF certificate, and a printed copy can be provided by GTi for an additional cost of £15+VAT.

How soon after enrolling can I start the course?

Once you have enrolled on the course and paid the course fee, you will have access to the online course modules which means you can start learning straight away (please allow 24-48hrs for us to process your enrolment). The practical training will be provided on the course dates above.

How long will it take me to complete the course?

The time it takes to complete the online element of the course will depend on how quickly you learn as an individual. Most students are able to complete the course within approximately 12 hours of study. The practical element of the course will take place over 1 day.

Is there a time limit for completing the online part of the course?

No.

Is the course accredited?

The course is fully accredited by the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists for membership and insurance and follows the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for beauty, nails and holistic therapies. This will enable UK residents to gain professional insurance in the UK with the Guild, and potentially internationally with other companies.

Is the course accredited for Continuing Professional Development - CPD?

What support is available to me whilst doing the online course?

All GTi online courses have access to integrated email support from fully qualified therapists and tutors.

What if I am dyslexic?

Each course module includes an audio soundtrack of the course material which is ideal for students who are dyslexic.

Do I need anything special on my computer?

You will need to have a modern web browser and speakers or headphones. Please note that the GTi course modules do not currently run on some mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads. Please feel free to run our free trial module to check if the course will run on your computer.

How will the course be marked?

Following each course module you will take an online examination which requires a pass rate of around 70%. For the practical module you will need to demonstrate that you can perform the outlined tasks to the skill level required.

What if I fail a module?

If you fail a module you have the ability to re-take the examination twice. If you fail the module you will be contacted by the tutor who will offer support before making a final attempt.

What if I fail the practical assessment?

You will need to arrange another day of training with the GTi Training Centre where your practical assessment was carried out. You will be charged for this.

Do I need to complete any paperwork?

No. All examinations are completed online and a record of your marks is displayed in your login area. When you complete your practical module you may need to fill out your details as well as a review form.
